As organisations worldwide mark AI Appreciation Day, ADP’s research reveals that India has become the world’s most AI-active workforce, with 80% of employees using AI multiple times a week and 41% using it daily. Yet despite high adoption and stronger workplace engagement, employees who use AI most frequently are also more likely to question whether they are truly becoming more productive.

According to findings from ADP’s People at Work 2026 report, Indian employees are embracing AI faster than their global peers across industries, age groups and company sizes. Frequent AI users report being more engaged and experiencing lower levels of workplace stress than non-users, but they are also more likely to question their own productivity, highlighting the need for organisations to focus not only on adoption, but also on effective implementation and workforce enablement.

Key India-specific insights from the survey:

  • India leads globally in workplace AI adoption, with 80% of employees using AI multiple times a week and 41% using AI daily.
  • 31% of employees believe AI will positively impact their job responsibilities in the coming year, making India one of the most optimistic markets globally.
  • Knowledge workers are the most positive about AI, with 37% expecting a positive impact on their roles, compared to 21% of skilled task workers and 19% of repetitive task workers.
  • Younger employees are leading adoption, with 43% of workers aged 18–39 using AI almost daily.
  • Women are adopting AI more frequently than men, with 44% using AI nearly every day compared to 40% of men.
  • AI usage remains high across organisations of all sizes, with daily usage reaching 54% among employees in large enterprises.

Mr. Rahul Goyal, Managing Director of ADP India and Southeast Asia commented, “India’s leadership in workplace AI adoption shows that employees are eager to embrace technologies that can help them work smarter and create greater value. But our research also highlights an important reality: adoption alone does not automatically translate into confidence in productivity.”

“As organisations mark AI Appreciation Day, the focus should shift from simply deploying AI to helping people use it effectively. Businesses that invest in skills, transparency and continuous learning will be best positioned to unlock the full potential of AI while creating a more engaged and resilient workforce.”
